This step-by-step will show you how you can use the tool to flash firmware files to your device and fix any software-related problems on those devices.
When you might need this tool
You should do this if your device:
- Gets stuck on the starting screen.
- Is very slow or keeps stopping.
- Needs a newer version of its program.
- Got broken during a bad update.
Get these things ready first:
- A Windows computer.
- The new program file (called firmware). It must be the correct one for your device. It is a file that ends in .img or .bin.
- The RockChip Factory Tool program.
- Helper files (called drivers) that let your computer and device communicate with each other.
- A good USB cable.
- Your device must have enough battery power (at least half full).
Step 1: Install the Driver Files
- Install the device driver you have downloaded to your PC.
- Restart the computer after you finish the driver installation.
- Find the RockChip Factory Tool folder and open it.
- Right-click the main program (FactoryTool.exe) and choose "Run as Administrator".
- Click the button that says "Firmware" in the tool.
- Find your new program file (the .img or .bin file) and select it.
- Turn your device completely off.
- Press and hold a special button on your device (usually Volume Up or Volume Down).
- While still holding the button, plug the USB cable into the device and the computer.
- The tool should show a green box. Green means the computer sees your device!
- Click the "Run" button in the tool.
- The tool will now send the new program to your device.
- DO NOT unplug the wire or close the program while it is working!
- Wait until the tool shows a message like "Upgrade Done Success".
- The fix is done! You can unplug the wire.
- Turn your device on. It should now work well.
If you don't see the green box in Step 4, try this:
- Hold a different button while you plug the wire in (like Volume Down or maybe Volume Up + Power at the same time).
- Try a different wire or a different USB port on your computer.
- RockChip Factory Tool: Simple and fast. This is the best choice for you.
- AndroidTool: Has many buttons and is more complex. It's for people who know how to build programs.
