The Redmi 14R 5G (codename "flame"), also known as the POCO M7 5G, is a budget-friendly 5G device powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor. It is currently moving from HyperOS 1.0 (Android 14) to HyperOS 2.0 (Android 15). Flashing the correct firmware is essential for unbricking or manual updates.

‼️ CRITICAL WARNING: DEVICE VARIANT & ARB ‼️
Please verify your device details carefully:
  • Codename Match: This firmware is ONLY for devices with the codename "flame" (Redmi 14R 5G / POCO M7 5G).
  • Android Version Warning: Files include both Android 14 (HyperOS 1.0 - UGU prefix) and Android 15 (HyperOS 2.0 - VGU prefix).
  • Anti-Rollback (ARB): If you have updated to Android 15 (HyperOS 2.0), DO NOT flash an Android 14 ROM (HyperOS 1.0) and lock the bootloader. Downgrading the Android version with a locked bootloader will hard-brick the device.
  • Cross-Flashing: If you are converting a Chinese Redmi to a Global/India POCO ROM (or vice versa), you MUST NOT lock the bootloader.

✅ The Requirements

  • PC/Tools: A Windows PC.

  • Cable: A reliable USB-C cable.
  • Backup: A full backup of your data (Fastboot flashing wipes internal storage).
  • Software: Xiaomi MI Flash Tool installed on your PC.
  • Drivers: Qualcomm USB drivers installed.

➡️ How to Flash the Firmware

Choose the method based on the file type you downloaded (.tgz or .zip).

Method 1: Flashing Fastboot ROM (.tgz)

Use this method for the .tgz files to unbrick or clean install.
  1. Step 1: Download and extract your chosen
    Code:
    .tgz
firmware file to a simple folder on your PC (e.g.,
    Code:
    C:\flame_rom
). Do not use a folder path with spaces.
  2. Step 2: Download, extract, and run MiFlash.exe as an administrator.
  3. Step 3: Power off your phone completely. Boot into Fastboot Mode by pressing and holding the Power + Volume Down buttons until the fastboot logo appears.
  4. Step 4: Connect your phone to the PC via USB. Click "Refresh" in Mi Flash Tool.
  5. Step 5: Click "Select" and navigate to the extracted firmware folder.
  6. Step 6 (CRITICAL): At the bottom of the tool, select "Clean all".
    • WARNING: Do NOT select "Clean all and lock" if you are cross-flashing regions or downgrading Android versions (A15 -> A14). This will BRICK your phone.
  7. Step 7: Click "Flash" to begin.

Method 2: Flashing Recovery ROM (.zip)

Use this method for the .zip file to update via the system updater (requires stock recovery/no PC).
  1. Step 1: Copy the
    Code:
    .zip
file to the downloaded_rom folder on your phone's internal storage.
  2. Step 2: Go to Settings > About Phone > System Update.
  3. Step 3: Tap the HyperOS logo 10 times to enable advanced features.
  4. Step 4: Tap the three dots (menu) > Choose update package.
  5. Step 5: Select the .zip file and follow the on-screen instructions.
