The Acer Iconia Tab 10 (Model A3-A40), powered by the MediaTek MT8163 chipset, is prone to software issues like bootloops, "System UI has stopped" errors, and battery drain as it ages. Flashing the official stock firmware is the most effective way to resolve these glitches and restore the tablet to a clean factory state.

‼️ Important Warning: DUAL FLASHING METHODS ‼️
  • File 1 ("OS_Acer"): An Update.zip package for flashing via the tablet's Stock Recovery (SD Card method). Use this for soft-bricks, bootloops, or bug fixes.
  • File 2 ("MT8163"): A Scatter Firmware package for flashing via the PC using SP Flash Tool. Use this ONLY if your tablet is "hard bricked" (dead, black screen, or not detected by recovery).
Crucial: Ensure your battery is charged to at least 50% before attempting any flash.

➡️ How to Flash the Firmware

Choose the method based on the file you downloaded.

Method 1: SD Card Update (Soft-Brick Fix)

  1. Step 1: Download the OS_Acer_RV09RC01...zip file. Do not extract it.
  2. Step 2: Copy the zip file to the root directory of your MicroSD card.
  3. Step 3: Insert the SD card into your tablet.
  4. Step 4: Boot into Recovery Mode: Power off, then press and hold Volume Up + Power. Release Power when the Acer logo appears, but keep holding Volume Up.
  5. Step 5: Navigate with Volume keys to "Apply update from external storage" and press Power.
  6. Step 6: Select the zip file and confirm. The system will update and reboot automatically upon completion.

Method 2: SP Flash Tool (Hard-Brick Fix)

  1. Step 1: Download and extract the Acer_Iconia_Tab_10...MT8163...zip file on your PC.
  2. Step 2: Download and launch the SP Flash Tool (guide link here).
  3. Step 3: In the tool, click "Scatter-loading" and select the
    Code:
    MT8163_Android_scatter.txt
file from your extracted firmware folder.
  4. Step 4: Uncheck the "Preloader" box (only check it if the tablet is truly dead).
  5. Step 5: Click the Download button.
  6. Step 6: Connect your powered-off tablet to the PC via USB. The flashing process should begin automatically.
